A Very Big Book
Our friends at Proof7, one of the leading print houses in New York City, recently stopped by the LOLA office with the lookbook for their clothing collection; Rochambeau. The lookbook happened to be a life-size giant handprinted book. Here are some images from book.
What is Movie Life?
Recently, I have heard a lot of "what is Movie Life" and "what is Evil Weed?" Here is your explanation:
Movie Life is the documentation of the making of Evil Weed. It is a behind the scenes look into how an independent movie gets made. The stress, joy, uncertainty, hard-work, fun, and action that goes into a feature-length film getting made with a young cast and a first time director. Movie Life will air online episodes from now through the end of November.
Mr. CAPTCHA
If you have ever wondered what CAPTCHA was it is Completely Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart designed by Carnegie Mellon Computer Science Professor Luis Von Ahn. This is a security program that protects websites against bots by generating and grading tests that humans can pass but current computer programs cannot.
Microsoft Surface
I'm always fascinated by new technology. While this has been around for a few years, I just got to experience one for myself at a downtown computer gallery. Microsoft's touchscreen computer is a coffee table that will change the world. I found this video on popular mechanics that demonstrates the computer and it's functions. Check it out.
Spaceport America and Virgin Galactic
Spaceport America began construction in New Mexico last Friday. The first ever commercial spaceport will host private space travel companies such as Virgin Galactic, who spent over $300 million in developing a new space launch system.
Reactable In Practice
Much has been written about the reactable instrument in the last several years. It wasn't until I noticed that Bjork had used the instrument in her song Pluto, that I thought I would share it again. The reactable is a collaborative electronic music instrument with a tabletop tangible multi-touch interface.

PR2, Layman's R2D2
A Times article about the PR2 (personal robot) by Willow Garage–founded by Scott Hassan, an original designer of Google–concludes with a scientist’s quote, “Now they can escape and fend for themselves.”
2 Kindle or not 2 Kindle
For lovers of good old-fashioned literature, Amazon's Kindle 2 might initially trigger the gag reflex, but that's not to say this e-bookshelf at your fingertips is not insanely appealing on the same token.
Headquarters in Dubai
MAD architects designed this office headquarters in Dubai. The building is elevated by tubelike structures so as to not obstruct the view of the water at ground level. What's cool is the tubes are meant to circulate people throughout. It looks like an iMac perched on a desktop of trees.
