There are some fun birthdays and events coming up. Get your Gcal out.
This Fall I went to Seattle with Vanessa. It's a strange place. They had an amazing vintage store the size of a mall. I got a suitcase from the 50s and about a dozen matchbooks. At the airport I had to rip out all the actual matches, but was able to keep the matchbooks. I love the designs and colors. Check them out.
Last night was the final game in the history of the Meadowlands, a stadium the New York Jets have called home since 1984.
The weather was unfathomably cold as the NFL decided to move the game from 1 pm to 8 pm, and the stadium was unfathomably dry, as the Jets decided it was not wise to sell alcohol in an environment that could have become chaotic at the drop of a hat. As if there wasn't enough emotions running through all the frozen fans, if the Jets won the game, they are in the playoffs, if they lose, they're out, and have shamed the stadium, like some not to be named team did a week before.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hannuka, & Happy Holidays from everyone at LOLA.
Last night, Low, Ebone and myself attended the Knicks/Hawks game in Atlanta. I renounced my Knicks fanship a few years ago when they submarined the Jet's Westside stadium (amongst other things), but I figured it I would break out my Knicks 1999 game 4 of the finals tee shirt (thank you Emmett), a brown paper bag with eye holes and head on down.
JAY-Z & Alicia Keys performing "Empire State of Mind" Last night before game 2 of the World Series between the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies.
I'm proud to present on behalf of Gin Lane, the relaunch of one of our favorite sites; tinyvices.com. We worked closely with Tim over the summer to launch his personal site tim-barber.com The next step was progressing the stylesheet, designs, and user interface over to tinyvices.com. Check it out, or read about it on We Love You So; Spike Jonze blog for Where the Wild Things Are: weloveyouso.com
Let's face it, you need to work on your book collection...
We're open, come check us out.
On Wednesday night we went to Spade and Partners for the opening of Gordon Hull's new show. The crowd was jubilant as the start of fashion week had begun, and the crisp cool air of fall had arrived. Highlights of the evening: onetime LOLA intern Derek holding it down behind the bar, giant green dinosaur balloon parading through the crowd, and of course the stir of confusion that overcame the employees of Spade and Partners (we love you) when party-goers approached the register to purchase the limited stock of Downtown STATionary cards that were mysteriously omitted from their computer system's checkout...how odd...
