Art Show
Back
Featuring artists Bob Colacello, Daniel Fuller, Lisa de Kooning, Matisse
Patterson, John Ross Rist, and William Wood, the Generations Collide
exhibition will traverse the generations through the mediums of
painting, sculpture, and photography.
Some of the artists
that have the largest impact on me grew up in a time much before my own,
while others are artists that have barely reached their twenties. The
different waves of creativity fascinate me as I look at how each new
technique or series holds its own in an ever-evolving art world. This
exhibition examines the parallel existence of a distinct group of
artists from different eras and sees how their work varies and how one
generation relates to or influences the next.
Generations
Collide will open with a reception for the artists on May 20th, 2010, at
the Murphy and Dine Gallery, located at 520 West 27th Street, NYC, from
6 pm to 10 pm. Refreshments will be served and all guests are invited
to join us for the after party on the 5th floor terrace of the gallery.
There will be a guest list, so please be sure to rsvp.
Best
regards,
Trip

ARNY Artist Interview: Richie Cox
Richie Cox is an emerging artist featured in Thursday's Art Rocks. With a recent solo show at the Max&Suzanne space over the summer and an upcoming show in December, he is in the formative stages of building his body of work. I sat down with the sometimes enigmatic figure last week and asked him a few questions. Read the full interview after the jump.

"Borna Sammak: Best Buy" curated by Thomas McDonnell
"On the evening of October 8, New York- and Philadelphia-based video artist Borna Sammak will scramble all the video monitors at Best Buy on Broadway, in New York. He'll replace the promo imagery with 13 ecstatic, aggressively colorful compositions that are themselves scramblings of the same generic source materials. What would seem like a cyber hack parody of the television media and Best Buys' less than optimal choice of programming is actually Sammak's debut solo show." - Art in America
"No Friends" by Richie Cox at the Max and Suzanne Store
Thank you to everyone who came by the Max and Suzanne store in Sag Harbor this summer! It was a great success and a lot of fun. For those who weren't in the Hamptons this summer, I've posted some pictures of what we were up to.
Wooley St Art Space
We're open, come check us out.
Wooleystock 2009
Wooleystock 2009 was a music festival at the Wooley Street Gallery in Atlanta. It was based around music, love, peace and free beer.
Carnivores and Living Rooms performed until 2 am, illuminated by a projector playing "Bum Fights 2" on repeat. Admission and booze were free and the crowd was treated to an evening to remember (if possible). Not even a scuffle on an empty Peters St or a few local crackheads could dampen the mood for the crowd which dispersed shortly before 3.
