Photo Week - MoMA

October.29.2008 @ 8:24 pm by emmett from lola | Posted in America, Art, Travel

When Fall comes around I have love trying to go to as many art shows, galleries, and museums as possible. I get inspired by art and creativity, which helps when working around the clock. I went to the Museum of Modern Art recently and took a bunch of photographs while there. They had a great Van Gogh exhibit up as well as an interesting Modern Design & Architecture show. See the full gallery here.

Songs Of Samuel pt. 2 “Songs by The Beach”

August.5.2008 @ 8:24 pm by B-Roc | Posted in Music, Travel

Now that it’s August, the summers end is close at hand, and as a last ditch effort to savor the brilliance that the summer season inspires, most of us will take some vacations. A very large amount of us have been going to the beach since the summers conception (Hamptonites, Fire Islanders, etc.) but for those of you haven’t yet experienced the wonder that is Coney Island or any beach scene for that matter, this podcast is for you. Before September begins to come around, which will preface the ugliness that is winter: go somewhere warm, nice, and comfortable. Once you get there, pop this mixtape into your ears and let it rock out for the entirety, you’re vacation/nap/bbq/beach-side-tanning-session will be forever better.

Enjoy,
Samuel

and make sure you check out the last track! my new version of “I Heart New York” thats only available on the podcast!

July 12th, A Solo Exhibition, Felix Bonilla Gerena, Curated by Hurricane Trip

June.17.2008 @ 11:21 am by trip | Posted in Art, Fun, Hamptons, Hurricane Trip, Travel

After a long winter of traveling and surfing the world, I am once again here in Bridgehampton to bring excitement to the local Hamptons’ art scene.

Having really started building a name for myself as a young group show curator and drunk, this time I have a big treat for you all in the solo work of Felix Bonilla Gerena, a well-established Puerto Rican painter, whose work I noticed while on a surf trip last winter in Aguadilla, P. R.

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1968, Bonilla has always had a niche for painting. His passion comes through on his canvases with his wonderful sense of color and form. His paintings combine striking colors with a sincerity and authenticity that speaks from the heart. To view Bonilla’s paintings is a vivid experience in color, depth, form and light.

After speaking with the owner of the restaurant, I was informed about the creator of these masterpieces, and was shortly thereafter, introduced to Felix himself.

As curator, I am now tightening things up, producing my first one-man show entitled “A Solo Exhibition” translating to, “Una Exposición en Solitario.”

The show will open with an explosive reception on Saturday, July 12th, from 5 to 8 pm at Collette’s Antique Barn, 2546 Montauk Hwy, Bridgehampton, NY, 11932, directly behind the old Bull’s Head Inn. Music will be held down by Sag Harbors own Max Barbaria so you know its gunna be a banger.

The show will be up till August 2nd, for those who miss the opening or just want a chance to stop by and take another look at Bonilla’s beautiful works on canvas.

Hope to see you all there.
