The Rectangle, A Herbie Fletcher Exhibition
After exhibiting last August in a well received group show produced by his friend, curator Tripoli Patterson, at Collette’s Antique Barn, in Southampton, Herbie Fletcher returns to the Hamptons this week to exhibit recent works in a solo show entitled, The Rectangle: A Herbie Fletcher Exhibition. Curator Tripoli Patterson’s new Bridgehampton location, Collette Gallery of Bridgehampton, located just behind the old Bull’s Head Inn on Montauk Hwy, is a perfect spot to showcase Mr. Fletcher’s exciting title piece.
Being the creative man that he is, Herbie has a way of seeing art in everything and using what is at hand to create his masterpieces. A Pipeline veteran and a true innovator, Herbie Fletcher, known by all surfers, is like a father to many North Shore surf heroes of today. When asked for their broken boards by the surf legend, local Pipeliners such as three-time world champion, Andy Irons, international superstar Bruce Irons, long board champion Bonga Perkins, and Herbie’s son, Nathan Fletcher, happily complied. Herbie uses them to create dramatic and energized sculptures, which he calls, “Rectangles.”
Also on exhibit, will be some of Mr. Fletcher’s large, resined photographs, printed on canvas. Combining important aspects of his life — documentation and shaping surfboards — Herbie brings forth a beauty of his own making that demonstrates his undeniable desire to create.
The show’s opening reception will be on Saturday, August 9th, from 5 to 8 pm at The Collette Gallery of Bridgehampton, 2546 Montauk Hwy, Bridgehampton, NY, 11932. The show will be on exhibit through August 25th, 2008, and will be open to the public for viewing from 10 am- 6 pm, seven days a week.
*Note: On the night of the opening, Saturday, August 9th, One Ocean, a restaurant located at 1 Ocean Road, in Bridgehampton, will be hosting a prix fixe dinner and drink specials for the artist and friends until eleven pm. All are welcome to come and meet the Herbie.
Hope everyone is healthy and well and having a great summer. I am curating a solo art show entitled, “The Rectangle, A Herbie Fletcher Exhibition”, at my new Gallery in Bridgehampton, The Collette Gallery. Hope you can all join me for the opening reception this Saturday, August 9th, from 5pm to 8pm. There will be music courtesy of the great mastermind Max Barbaria, goody bags from Oakley, refreshments and good people.
See you all here,
Hurricane Trip
July 12th, A Solo Exhibition, Felix Bonilla Gerena, Curated by Hurricane Trip
After a long winter of traveling and surfing the world, I am once again here in Bridgehampton to bring excitement to the local Hamptons’ art scene.
Having really started building a name for myself as a young group show curator and drunk, this time I have a big treat for you all in the solo work of Felix Bonilla Gerena, a well-established Puerto Rican painter, whose work I noticed while on a surf trip last winter in Aguadilla, P. R.
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1968, Bonilla has always had a niche for painting. His passion comes through on his canvases with his wonderful sense of color and form. His paintings combine striking colors with a sincerity and authenticity that speaks from the heart. To view Bonilla’s paintings is a vivid experience in color, depth, form and light.
After speaking with the owner of the restaurant, I was informed about the creator of these masterpieces, and was shortly thereafter, introduced to Felix himself.
As curator, I am now tightening things up, producing my first one-man show entitled “A Solo Exhibition” translating to, “Una Exposición en Solitario.”
The show will open with an explosive reception on Saturday, July 12th, from 5 to 8 pm at Collette’s Antique Barn, 2546 Montauk Hwy, Bridgehampton, NY, 11932, directly behind the old Bull’s Head Inn. Music will be held down by Sag Harbors own Max Barbaria so you know its gunna be a banger.
The show will be up till August 2nd, for those who miss the opening or just want a chance to stop by and take another look at Bonilla’s beautiful works on canvas.
Hope to see you all there.
Verne Troyer And I kickin it at La Playa
I was hurricaning it around last weekend and whirled right into Verne who just finished filming The Guru with Mike Meyers. Luckily he was mad chill and told his body guards to put me down and I had I sec to tell him about my up and coming show, he like the work and said he would try to make it. Then I called him Minnie Me, forgetting that wasn’t his real name and it got a lil weird.
Big up Lil Verne

Hurricane Hits Munich
Was in Munich for a minute checking out the old man, but of course I had to get a lil loose and see what type of trouble I could cause in the Munchen club scene.
