Jets Probowl Kick Returner Justin Miller punched a woman outside the Maritime Hotel last night. This is the story according to most media outlets. At 4.20 am Miller got in a fight with a man. He swung at man, said man ducked and the punch landed upside a woman’s head. Miller made a break for the parking lot but was chased down by police on foot. NFL Czar Roger Goodell and Coach Mangini are sure to throw the book at him due to all of the ignorant acts committed by players recently (Pac Man, Mike Vick, Chris Henry, Tank Johnson), NFL Czar Roger Goodell and Coach Mangini are sure to throw the book at him. For shame, Jets fans like myself will miss his returns on special teams, and the serious hits he delivered from the CB position.(See college highlights below)
The New York Post’s report was contrary to every other media outlet. They said he was in a dispute with the woman outside the club and then intentionally duffed her out. As a Jets fan, I hope this is false, in which case Miller should sue them for slander. If it is true, we must put everything in perspective and thank god he isn’t an alleged herpes addled, dog fighting pot smuggler like Mike Vick, and I said alleged.
Fortunately for the Jets, they just traded up in the draft to select CB Darrelle Revis, who happens to also return punts (see video below). This trade was panned by many because they thought the Jets gave up too much to draft Revis, but it looks exponentially smarter now that Miller socked a woman. In the 7th round we drafted the elusive WR/Return specialist Chansi Stuckey from Clemson(who roomed with Miller his freshman year), so all bases seem covered in the face of Justin Millers inevitable suspension (release?!).
Though I feel for Miller, the woman who was snuffed, and mostly Jets fans, I feel the major story here are who is the cop that ran down the AFC’s starting kick returner, and how can we get him into mini camp.
