Ok so Friday comes on a Saturday this week. The weekly mix is here, albiet a day late. So what. I'm giving you an extra 7 songs so you know we're not slacking.
This weeks mix is an eclectic one that starts off with some soul... any sample hunters? Then Young Jeezy's new "Turn My Scale On" is a flip of Soulja Boy's "Turn My Swag On". It reminds me of when you're in your ride with the music extra loud so people can see how you lean, and you are listening to the hottest, exclusive, new freestyle... but it's over the most embarrassing beat ever. For example "I know this pissed off guy Far Rock just shouted out every correctional facility on the East Coast... but it was over the beat from "The Boy Is Mine". How can I possibly look hard?" I mean, I like Soulja Boy, but I want everyone to consider how tough Jeezy's verse on this is.
Then we move from an old Hypnotize Posse 36 Mafia jump to a track off the new Project Pat. Smooth out the mix with "Parallel Lines" off the new Junior boys "Begone Dull Care", some Italo, and some synth-funk edits. More funky, straight from Africa with "Devil Made Me Do It" by Ofege. If you see a copy of their LP "The Last Of The Origins"...get it.
Also check for "She Said" my favorite song off the new Lissy Trullie EP out on Brooklyn based label American Myth. A song from an early release of the new Phoenix album is on there too. Quite good. Hope you enjoy!
P.S. That's me in the hot tub.
