Our offices are located right near Whole Foods––which is both a blessing and a curse: A blessing, as it's so damn convenient to pick up a sandwich or some coffee; A curse, as it quickly became the only spot to hit up for lunch. After a while, we got sick of it. We decided to break away from corporate organica and explore our amazing, culinary–diverse surroundings. In this new series, we explore local treasures, document our findings, and report back ASAP. We seek out the cheap hot spots––anything with bang for our buck.

Three Makes a Trilogy–Our most recent adventure led us to Otafuku, a tiny Japanese alcove that serves up fresh Takoyaki (Octopus Balls) and Okonomiyaki– (Japanese savory pancakes)–like a Japanese equivalent of pizza. Okonomiyaki is made from shredded cabbage, batter, and a variety of mix-ins. The pancake is cooked on a griddle, slathered with sauce, zigzagged with mayo, and topped off with shavings of bonito and dried seaweed. Intense.
Takoyaki is like a dumpling, filled with tempura scraps, diced baby octopus and cooked in a special cast iron pan. They receive a similar treatment to the Okonomiyaki. Dope.
