Bambu Apparel Launches

Posted by Steve Daroci on July 09, 2009 in Fashion

Bambu, the historic makers of "The World's Finest Rolling Papers," announced yesterday the launch of its first clothing line, Bambu Apparel, which will be available for purchase both at select Nordstrom locations and is officially online at http://www.bambu.com/apparel.

Recognized as one of 1000 oldest companies in the world, Bambu Apparel draws inspiration from its own archives using original artwork from advertisements and marketing materials dating all the way back to 1764. Bambu Apparel is a comfortable, stylish lifestyle brand expanding into several categories including t-shirts, jackets, hooded sweatshirts and more.

"We spent years searching eBay and other websites collecting old postcards, advertisements and any other Bambu products we could get our hands on with the hopes of re-releasing these items at some point. With the help of MerchDirect we've translated our history into a tangible, wearable product that we feel embodies our company," said Bambu's Sarah Saiger.

For its online store, Bambu is teaming up with MerchDirect, known for its success with merchandising for the music and entertainment industry.

The success factor for the company was their natural approach to the manufacturing of their products, specifically the natural gum sealer that is used. Made from a specific type of the African Acacia tree, the sealer tip is a completely chemical free substance, with no additives of any kind. Passing the highest known food standards the gum has neither taste nor calories. This allows the paper user to experience and enjoy their tobacco in it¹s most natural state. Here in America Bambu was a huge hit in the 1900's appearing in movies, television, and on the back of buses as part of a mobile advertising campaign.
