Hermes presents the dramatic works of Victoria Sambunaris, exploring “the upheavals in the landscape of the American West-both geophysical and manmade.”
Her large-scale photographs reveal the visually sublime landscapes she captured on her travels across the country. Her most recent works, depicting the Yellowstone hotspot and Idaho’s Snake River plane, speak of the earth’s origins and evolution. The artist states: “I am captivated by the idea of how we inhabited our landscapes as we forge ahead in our development. The suggestion of what fills our lives is somehow telling and strangely consoling.”
Located on the fourth floor of Hermes at 691 Madison Avenue, Victoria Sambunaris: Terra Firma will be open to the public from 10:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Saturdays (Thursdays 10:00am to 7:00pm)
